The Philadelphia Eagles released cornerback Daryl Worley on Sunday evening after he was arrested early Sunday morning.
Worley was found passed out in possession of a gun in a car on Broad Street, near the team's South Philly practice facility.
A source close to the situation confirmed an NFL Network report, which said that Worley became combative with police and that police used a Taser to subdue him.
Worley, 23, started 25 games for Carolina the past two seasons before being acquired by the Eagles early in the offseason. He's from North Philadelphia.
Worley has found trouble before. He entered a no-contest plea to misdemeanor assault and was given a six-month suspended sentence for a 2014 altercation with a woman outside a nightclub in Morgantown, W.Va., where he played in college.
Prescott says it wasn't him
• Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott said he has heard that receiver Dez Bryant blamed team captains for encouraging his release, and he made it clear it wasn't him. "Put the football stuff beyond you, what he meant to me as a person, what he meant to me as a brother, it's tough to see him gone," Prescott said.
• San Francisco linebacker Reuben Foster won't participate in the offseason program while he tends to legal matters related to domestic violence charges, the 49ers said in a statement.
