Phoenix forward Candice Dupree often gets overlooked because the Mercury have Diana Taurasi and Penny Taylor, who averaged 21.6 and 16.7 points, respectively, during the regular season.
But the 6-2 Dupree had one of her best seasons, averaging 14.6 ppg and 8.2 rebounds. She shot 54.8 percent from the field -- second best in the WNBA.
The Lynx made her practically disappear on Thursday, though. She had two points (one for six from the field) and two rebounds in almost 26 minutes.
Turns out she may have been ill. Dupree was given an IV after the game because she was suffering from either dehydration or flu symptoms.
Dupree had scored in double figures in 30 of 34 regular-season games. Her previous lows were three and six points. She also was in douoble figures in rebounds in 11 games with a lows of one and two, once apiece.
Dupree, a 2006 Temple graduate, was especially playing well lately.
Nobody for the Mercury played too well as they lost 80-61 in the first game of their best-of three Western Conference semifinal series in Seattle.
But Dupree, whose 144 consecutive starts ranks 10th in WNBA history and is the current longest, was outstanding in the second Storm game played in Phoenix. She was 12 for 14 from the field and scored 29 points as the Mercury beat Seattle 92-83.
