The reality-show-inspired craze for social dancing may have inspired a new series in downtown St. Paul called Summer Dance. Each Thursday night through late August, you'll be able to get free dance instruction in various styles, from ballroom to disco and salsa. Then participants can join in for open dancing with live music at Landmark Plaza, 5th and Market streets.
The St. Paul Public Library joins the dance line by presenting dance-themed movies on Friday nights throughout the summer. Movies on the schedule include "Top Hat," "Dance With Me," "Urban Cowboy" and "Mad Hot Ballroom."
Summer Dance is co-presented by the Ordway Center, the City of St. Paul, the St. Paul Public Library, the St. Paul Hotel and Pazzaluna restaurant. Refreshments will be available, for sale, but all other activities are free.
