Commuters coming into downtown on eastbound I-394 may find delays on the 12th Street ramp Friday morning.

A paving project scheduled to get underway at 6 a.m. will have 12th Street between Glenwood Avenue and 3rd Avenue S. closed. The city of Minneapolis did say it will keep one block of 12th between Hawthorne Avenue and Harmon Place open to accommodate traffic coming off I-394. That section of 12th will close at 9 a.m.

Plymouth Metrolink buses will operate on 10th Street rather than 12th Street during the morning rush hour.

Crews also will shut down 11th Street between LaSalle Avenue and Currie Avenue, but that will reopen at 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. to allow traffic to get out of downtown Minneapolis during the evening commute.

The city will be removing the current layer of asphalt on both city streets, and putting down a new driving surface. Officials say the work should be completed by 10 p.m. Saturday.

Another closure downtown involves 4th Avenue South. The street will shut down at 7 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday between 8th and 9th Streets. An energy company will be installing new water lines for the new Vikings stadium.
