I am about to date myself, but so be it. Now that I’m attempting to semi-retire, we have a bit more time to travel. I’m ashamed to admit I have a closet full of old cameras. They took great photos, but smartphone pics are easier to edit and share. And good enough. Paper maps from AAA? Google Maps works around the world, along with Yelp for restaurant reviews, which takes some of the mystery and spontaneity out of travel. It’s all good as long as the Internet stays up. If not, then it’s back to 1987. Which wasn’t so bad.
In the 1980s meteorologists used three to six operational weather models. Today we have access to hundreds of deterministic and ensemble models, all with slightly different solutions. When models agree, forecast confidence levels go up. It’s rare.
Showers splat from west to east across Minnesota Sunday, but we dry out Monday. More showers arrive later in the week. I don’t think we’ve seen the last 70-degree mark (or thunder) of the season just yet.
I see bursts of cool air (highs in the 50s), but a generally mild bias right through late October.
