Look at the bright side. Wait, I forget the bright side now that daylight lasts about two hours. Oh yeah, road construction is (mostly) over. It’s so cold your garbage doesn’t stink and even criminals don’t want to be outside.

I remember my first winter here: 1983. 98.6 inches of snow at MSP, piled up so high you couldn’t see oncoming traffic. Using my credit card to scrape ice off the INSIDE of my windshield. Watching a guy jog past my car at 20 degrees. Oh dear, what have I done? Why do I stay? I see it as a challenge. A chance to catch up with friends, nap and read a stack of books. Still beats hurricanes, fires and earthquakes, thank you very much.

A fizzling clipper drops about 1 inch of snow on MSP throughout Monday. And then Tuesday, an icy mix with highs nudging above 32 by afternoon; maybe 3 to 6 inches of snow up north.

A few more subzero lows late this week, then 3-5 days of 30s from mid-December to Christmas. Yes.

All I want for Christmas this year? To live in a state where 30s meets the definition of a “warm front.”
