Richard Strom, above, held his hat over his heart as members of the 133rd National Guard Honor Guard posted the colors during a Memorial Day ceremony Monday. Strom, of Minneapolis, served in the Korean War. The annual event, held to commemorate those who died while serving in the U.S. military, takes place near the Soldiers Memorial monument at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis. This year, music was provided by a gospel quartet led by Robert Robinson and the Minneapolis Police Band. James Fischer, president of the Minnesota State Council of the Vietnam Veterans of America was the guest speaker.
