Day has 15 points, 10 rebounds and No. 20 Syracuse cruises past NC Central 70-25

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Briana Day scored 15 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked three shots to lead No. 20 Syracuse to an easy 70-25 win over North Carolina Central on Sunday.

The Orange (7-1) also got 13 points from Alexis Peterson and 11 from Brianna Butler.

The Eagles (2-8) had 30 turnovers that Syracuse cashed in for 29 points while the Eagles got no points off 11 Orange turnovers. Syracuse had 15 steals, four by Cornelia Fondren, who also had four assists, seven rebounds and eight points.

Although the Orange shot just 33 percent, Syracuse used those turnovers and 19 offensive rebounds to put up 22 more shots, finishing 22-66 with 10 3-pointers. Syracuse was 16 of 23 from the foul line.

North Carolina Central was 9 of 44 from the field and just 4 of 8 from the line.

Syracuse scored the first 12 points of the game and led 30-12 at halftime.
