The Dave Matthews Band's legion of diehard fans have been waiting for this news since last summer: Matthews & Co. are set to play their first Twin Cities concert in five years Sept. 15 at St. Paul's Xcel Energy Center, according to the band's fan site. Tickets ($65) are listed to go on sale Feb. 26, with general admission planned for the arena floor. Xcel Center staff has yet to officially announce the concert, but did confirm the date.

In a Star Tribune interview last July when his crew hit the 10,000 Lakes Festival in Detroit Lakes, Minn., Matthews said the reason the DMB caravan does not arrive in the Twin Cities more often is because of our lack of a large outdoor music venue.

"That sort of makes sense in a weird way," he quipped. "It does get chilly there."

The Matthews Band is up for album of the year and best rock album trophies at Sunday's Grammy Awards with "Big Whiskey & the GrooGrux King," which came out last June and was dedicated to the group's late saxophonist, LeRoi Moore.
