Choreographer Ronald K. Brown founded his New York City troupe Evidence in 1985, and in the years since he has developed works that fuse gorgeous contemporary movement, traditional African dance forms and poignant spoken word. Brown spent time in St. Paul recently working with church groups, community organizations and TU Dance in anticipation of premiering his new work "On Earth Together" at the Ordway. The piece is inspired by the music of Stevie Wonder and explores the complex relationships that define individuals and their place in the world. The program includes "Grace" (pictured), a 1999 work originally created for the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, as well as "Ife/My Heart," a celebration of love drawing upon cultural traditions from Cuba and West Africa.
