Dance spotlight: New troupe debuts

Brazilian native Marciano Silva dos Santos has made his mark in Twin Cities dance since moving here in 2006. As a member of TU Dance for five years, he earned kudos for his rich and nuanced performances. This weekend sees the premiere of his troupe, Contempo Physical Dance, showcasing an exciting fusion of Afro-Brazilian dance, Brazilian martial arts form capoeira and contemporary movement. Contempo will premiere a full-evening dance work called "Motirô," an investigation of how people come together to help one another along. Dancers Irving Amigon, Davente Gilreath, Timothy Herian, Orlando Hunter, Laura Klein, Jenny Pennaz, Justin Reiter and Roxane Wallace-Patterson will join Dos Santos to kick off this new venture.
