THE SURREAL CHEF

Opening Thursday: Artist Salvador Dali wrote the cookbook "Les Diners de Gala" to honor his lover and muse Gala Éluard as well as his (unsurprisingly) adventurous palate. The book is out of print now, but you can experience the artist's surrealist visions of food brought to vivid life through a new work, "Dali's Cookbook: A Gastronomical Inquisition," created by Susana di Palma (right) of Zorongo Flamenco Dance Theatre in collaboration with Myron Johnson and Robert Skafte (left) from Ballet of the Dolls. This five-course evening of movement and music unites three natural partners in celebration of Dali's substantial creative appetite. Saturday's show is a benefit for both companies, followed by a party with live salsa band, tapas and red wine. (8 p.m. Thu.-Sat., 7 p.m. next Sun. $27-$45. Ritz Theater, 345 13th Av. NE., Mpls. 612-436-1129, or www.ritzdolls.com.)
