Black Label Movement artistic director Carl Flink is always seeking to place his physically charged dance in unexpected settings. BLM company members acted as a sort of living Powerpoint for Science Magazine writer John Bohannon's presentation of "A Modest Proposal" at the 2011 Tedx Brussels. The troupe will revive the groundbreaking lecture/dance (an online viral sensation) as part of next weekend's "Visceral" program. Another science-inspired piece, "HIT," pictured, is driven by Flink's fearless exploration of bodies in impact with biomedical engineer David Odde. The evening also features the world premiere of "Canary," set to music by local composer Greg Brosofske, plus several other riveting works from BLM's repertory, including "A Duet for Wreck," performed by Flink and the sublime Emilie Plauché Flink.
