With his band on its first-ever arena tour, we asked Black Keys frontman Dan Auerbach what big-venue shows he saw as a fan back in Ohio that made an impression on him. "I honestly have never seen that many," he said, "and they were way different from what we do."

Beastie Boys

"They had a rotating stage and all kinds of weird, cool stuff that made it really a fun show beyond the actual performance, which was good, too. We've got a few little tricks in our show, but we could never get away with doing that kind of thing."

Grateful Dead

"I was really young for that one and had never really been to a show like that before. It was freaky seeing 20,000 people all dancing around and jumping up and screaming every time they caught a glimpse of Jerry Garcia's white hair. At that point, I didn't know anything about acid or even weed, so it was all so bizarre to me."
