Crash kills Wisconsin wrestler Eli Stickley

Wisconsin wrestler Eli Stickley was killed in a vehicle crash in Illinois, according to police and the school.

Stickley died Thursday night after his pickup left the roadway on Interstate Hwy. 74 in Henry County.

Stickley, wrestling in the 141-pound class, went 21-14 last season and qualified for the NCAA Championships.

"The world lost a really good kid," Badgers coach Chris Bono said.

Ex-Bruin Honeycutt dies amid shootout

Former UCLA and Sacramento Kings player Tyler Honeycutt was found dead early Saturday in Los Angeles after a shootout with police.

He had barricaded himself inside a home after his mother had called police about his erratic behavior. Shots were fired, and Honeycutt was found dead hours later from what police said appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Suns' Booker signs maximum contract

Devin Booker, the high-scoring guard at the heart of Phoenix's rebuilding plans, signed a five-year, $158 million maximum contract with the Suns.

Booker averaged 24.9 points last season and scored 70 March 24 at Boston. He becomes the highest-paid player in franchise history.

Men's golf: Harold Varner shot a 4-under 66 to tie second-round leader Kelly Kraft (69) for the lead entering the final round of the PGA Tour's Military Tribute at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, W. Va.

Women's golf: Sei Young Kim shot an 8-under-par 64 in the third round of the Thornberry Creek LPGA Classic in Oneida, Wis., tying Annika Sorenstam's 54-hole record of 24 under and taking an eight-stroke lead. Sorenstam also holds the 72-hole record of 27 under, set in 2001.

Mixed martial arts: Daniel Cormier added the UFC heavyweight championship to his light heavyweight title, stopping Stipe Miocic during the first round at UFC 226 in Las Vegas. Cormier (21-1) became the second fighter in UFC history to hold two championship belts simultaneously. Conor McGregor held the featherweight and lightweight titles in 2016.

NHL: Vegas signed defenseman Colin Miller to a four-year contract. Miller, 25, led Vegas defensemen with a career-high 41 points last season.

WNBA: Coach Mike Thibault secured his 300th WNBA victory when Washington beat host Los Angeles 83-74. Thibault is the first WNBA coach to reach that milestone.

MLS: Josef Martinez scored his 18th goal of the season, most in MLS, and helped Atlanta beat host Philadelphia 2-0. …New England extended its unbeaten streak to seven games with a scoreless draw against visiting Seattle.
