Cost to treat eye infection: $175 million

$175 million: That's the cost in the United States to treat keratitis, an eye infection mainly caused by sloppy care of contacts, such as wearing them overnight or not properly cleaning or storing them.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said nearly 1 million patient each year seek treatment for the an infection of the cornea.

Most cases are mild irritations or redness, but a very small number are severe and can lead to blindness.
