Mixed martial arts star Conor McGregor was involved in a backstage melee Thursday at a news conference in Barclays Center in New York, and video footage appears to show him throwing a guardrail at a bus full of fighters who are scheduled for Saturday's UFC card.

The New York Police Department said it wants to question McGregor.

Video showed McGregor with a group of people causing chaos as they took an elevator to the loading dock at the arena. He was shown tossing trash cans and causing trouble during his unannounced appearance. Video taken from inside the van showed a window being shattered. Another video showed McGregor lifting a barricade and running toward the van before being cut off by a security guard in the loading dock.

UFC lightweight Michael Chiesa went to the hospital after a laceration to his face caused by broken glass, UFC President Dana White said. It was unclear whether that will affect Chiesa's status for Saturday, when he is scheduled to face former lightweight champ Anthony Pettis.

McGregor hasn't fought for UFC since November 2016 and this week was stripped of the 155-pound championship he had never defended. McGregor profanely responded on Twitter and wrote, "You'll strip me of nothing."

McGregor is tight with UFC 223 fighter Artem Lobov, who was involved this week in a scuffle in a hotel with Khabib Nurmagomedov. Nurmagomedov fights Max Holloway for the lightweight championship left vacant by McGregor. Lobov is also on the card, but White said he would be removed.

Punter King lands in Denver

Punter Marquette King signed a three-year, $7 million contract with the Denver Broncos less than a week after his surprising release from the Oakland Raiders. King is the only punter in NFL history to post at least a 40-yard net average in each of his first five seasons.

He also has a history of getting penalized for behavior on the field, including for a bucking bronco celebration. He said he didn't know if that was why Raiders coach Jon Gruden released him, but he said, "The Broncos encourage you to be yourself."

King also said signing with the Raiders' AFC West rival "was somewhat of a revenge factor, too."

• The New York Jets re-signed tackle Ben Ijalana, who has been a backup since 2013.

In this photo taken Monday, March 6, 2017, in San Francisco, released confidential files by The University of California of a sexual misconduct case, like this one against UC Santa Cruz Latin Studies professor Hector Perla is shown. Perla was accused of raping a student during a wine-tasting outing in June 2015. Some of the files are so heavily redacted that on many pages no words are visible. Perla is one of 113 UC employees found to have violated the system's sexual misconduct policies in rece
