NEW PRODUCTS Wilson Wolf Corp., New Brighton, has been awarded a Small Business Innovative Research Grant from the National Institutes of Health. It will use the grant to develop a device that will allow immune cells to be more effectively triggered to attack various forms of cancer.

NEW BUSINESS Creekridge Capital, Minneapolis, has an agreement with Peabody, Mass.-based BK Medical to provide financing for Peabody's line of ultrasound equipment.

Imation Corp., Oakdale, has a partnership with Germany-based BDT AG, a manufacturer of storage automation products for the OEM market. The two companies intend to market and commercialize new multi-cartridge RDX devices.

TerraMedica, Minneapolis, has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services/Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation. TerraMedica will conduct an assessment of fraud, waste and abuse in Medicare claims using a prepayment predictive scoring system.

RESTRUCTURING Piper Jaffray Cos., Minneapolis, said it will transition its private capital business to become an independent firm. The change is expected to be effective Dec. 1. This fund of funds business will transition to the key principals of the private capital subsidiary, who will rename the independent company North Sky Capital. It will be led by Scott Barrington, a Piper Jaffray & Co. managing director.

PERSONNEL People Serving People, Minneapolis, named Dr. Craig Lewis as new president and CEO. Lewis replaces Jim Minor, who retires after six years as president.

Bracco of Milan, Italy, has appointed Thomas Morizio president and chief operating officer of ACIST Medical Systems Inc., a Minneapolis-based provider of contrast delivery systems for cardiology and radiology imaging and part of the Bracco Group. Morizio previously was vice president of marketing for the Kyphon Division at Medtronic Inc., Fridley.
