Native Americans considered Lake Minnetonka to be sacred, which may be true. It sure is fun. Yesterday hundreds of boaters converged on a Tim McGraw concert on the western end of the lake. It was combination boat show, party and fundraiser for Folds of Honor, which provides educational scholarships to spouses and children of America's fallen and disabled service members. And if you couldn't make it this year there are 11,841 other lakes to have your own party on.
A pop-up instability shower may chase boaters on Gull and the Whitefish Chain this afternoon; a few storms brush far southern Minnesota late Monday. Most of us won't get wet until Wednesday, when another cool puff of Canadian air sneaks south of the border.
This welcome comfortable spell gives way to upper 80s next weekend. It's early, but Sunday looks like the drier day right now.
Don't even think of writing summer off yet. I see a few 90s returning by mid-August.
