St. Paul native Josh Blue may now make his home in Colorado, but he's returning to the Twin Cities this weekend to tape his soon-to-be-released comedy special.

"I love the crowds there because they're smart and tough," said Blue, who made his name by winning NBC's comedy competition "Last Comic Standing" in 2006 and become a role model for people who, like him, have cerebral palsy.

"When I was growing up, my parents were too cheap to buy a snowblower, so my crippled butt was out clearing the whole driveway every winter. It was hell."

Blue said the special doesn't have a distributor yet, but don't be surprised if it ends up on Comedy Central, which spotlighted him in 2009. Blue will perform Saturday at 7 and 9:30 p.m. at the Varsity Theater in Minneapolis. The $20 tickets can be purchased at the Loring Pasta Bar or at Ticketfly.com.
