MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS

North Carolina edges Virginia • NO. 5 NORTH CAROLINA 75, VIRGINIA 74: Tyler Hansbrough's 27 points, including a critical baby hook with 21 seconds to play Tuesday night, lifted the Tar Heels (23-2, 8-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) over the Cavaliers (11-12, 1-9) in Charlottesville, Va. UNC was coming off a double-overtime victory over Clemson on Sunday.

• NO. 9 BUTLER 83, WIS.-MILWAUKEE 75 (OT): Mike Green scored 10 of his 24 points in overtime and had 13 rebounds and eight assists despite spraining his right ankle as the Bulldogs (22-2. 11-2 Horizon League) rallied and beat the Panthers (12-11, 7-6) in Milwaukee.

• NO. 22 PITTSBURGH 82, PROVIDENCE 63: Sam Young scored 22 points, and the Panthers (19-5, 7-4 Big East) limited the visiting Friars (13-11, 4-8) to six points in the opening 11 minutes.

• NO. 24 VANDERBILT 93, KENTUCKY 52: Shan Foster (20 points), and A.J. Ogilvy (19 points, 12 rebounds) led the Commodores (21-4, 6-4 Southeastern Conference) in Nashville. Vanderbilt handed the Wildcats (12-10, 6-3) their worst loss since a 55-point rout by Kansas in 1989.

• MARQUETTE 89, SETON HALL 64: Lazar Hayward scored 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds -- both game-highs -- as he led the Golden Eagles (17-6, 7-5 Big East) over the Pirates (15-10, 5-7) in Newark, N.J.

WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS

Freshman leads UConn to rout • NO. 2 CONNECTICUT 80, GEORGETOWN 48: Freshman Maya Moore's 25 points led the Huskies (23-1, 10-1 Big East) to a rout of the Hoyas (13-10, 3-7) in Storrs, Conn. Moore hit eight of her first 10 shots and was 4-for-6 from three-point range. Moore moved past Rebecca Lobo into fourth place on UConn's freshman scoring list with 424.

• NO. 10 OKLAHOMA 68, NO. 20 TEXAS A&M 55: Courtney Paris scored 20 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as she led the Sooners (18-4, 8-2 Big 12) over the Aggies (17-7, 5-5) in Norman, Okla. It was the 83rd double-double in a row for Paris, and the 88th of her career. No men's or women's player in NCAA history has as many.

NOTES

• Missouri senior guard Stefhon Hannah, the team's leading score and central figure in a nightclub fracas that led to the suspension of five players, was kicked off the team.
