It's gutterball news that can't be chalked up to April Fool's Day.

Richfield's Lariat Lanes - a pretense-averse, 12-lane townie throwback - will stop setting up pins May 10. The Penn Avenue bowling alley has been a birthday party and league bowling destination for residents of southwest Minneapolis and Richfield since 1958. Here's the announcement, per LL's Facebook page.

"It's is with great saddness that I have to announce, after 57 years of serving the Richfield community, Lariat Lanes is closing. Our last day of operation will be May 10th, please stop in to share your memories and say goodbye to Lariat."

"The Richfield nightlife scene" is a sequence of words that's still very funny to type. But, in reality, it's booming with the arrival of foodie-approved Lyn 65 and the latest Pizza Luce. Lakewinds Food Co-op is another seemingly un-Richfield recent addition to the blue-collar 'burb.
