Home expo

More than 50 home designers, builders and landscape experts will be represented at the free Richfield Home and Garden Expo on Feb. 21. The city's housing, engineering and permits departments also will be on hand to answer questions.

For those less focused on interiors and more interested in getting outside, the show will feature a presentation on Richfield's many outdoor recreational activities.

Attendees can make a "milk jug garden," courtesy of the Richfield Garden Club, and milkwood seeds to attract butterflies will be available.

The show, sponsored by Richfield Visions Inc., runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Richfield High School, 7001 Harriet Av. S., Richfield.

FinnStyle's next move

After 13 years of offering Finnish home design items in Minneapolis, FinnStyle is both moving and moving on.

The retailer is moving from its current location — 160 Glenwood Av. — to nearby Golden Valley and becoming AlwaysMod. (AlwaysMod.com was launched online in 2008 by FinnStyle parent company Our World Shops Inc.)

AlwaysMod will continue to sell items with a modern design aesthetic, including dinnerware, home accents, textiles, lighting and furniture. The store is expanding its product mix to include labels from around the world, including Alessi, Design Ideas, Finell, Kikkerland and MoMA.

The move will give the shop nearly double the retail space, with nearly 4,000 square feet in the new location at 905 Decatur Av. N. The additional square footage will make room for furniture and lighting displays as well as a demonstration kitchen.

Meanwhile at its current location, customers can expect markdowns of up to 80 percent on some items during the moving sale Feb. 10-16.
