Local art sourcesIf you're looking to adorn a bare wall or an empty niche, you'll find artwork aplenty at Art-A-Whirl, the nation's largest open-studio tour, next weekend in northeast Minneapolis.
The annual event invites the public into more than 50 art-filled locations, including artists' studios, galleries, homes, storefronts and businesses.

Floral centerpiece workshopIf you're hosting a graduation or summer soiree, why not make your own centerpiece? Bachman's floral designer Diane Enge, a three-time finalist for Minnesota Designer of the Year, will lead a workshop on easy summer centerpieces, 2-4 p.m. Saturday.

Landscape workshopsWhat's on your outdoor to-do list this spring? Gertens is offering two free workshops for homeowners. A spring lawn-care workshop will provide expert answers on seeding, fertilizing, dandelion prevention and general maintenance, in a Q&A format. This workshop will be offered at 10 a.m. on Saturday and again on May 26.
A how-to workshop on landscaping with natural stone also will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday. Demonstrations will cover how to create an outdoor retreat, including flagstone patios, walkways and stone walls. Participants will learn how to plan a project, prepare the base material and get started on installation.
