The Cleveland Indians are keeping outfielder Franmil Reyes away from training camp after they spotted him on social media attending a weekend holiday party without wearing a mask.

Manager Terry Francona said Reyes is not in any trouble with the team. But by not practicing social distancing or wearing a mask he exposed himself — and his teammates — to infection, and the team is being overly cautious.

Francona said Reyes, who was traded to Cleveland last season from San Diego, will have to be re-tested for the virus "when it's appropriate."

Francona said Reyes, who hit 37 homers combined for the Padres and Indians last season, apologized for not being more careful.

"He didn't do anything bad," Francona said. "We just have to live by certain guidelines right now."

Diekman dubious

A's pitcher Jake Diekman has serious questions about Major League Baseball's ability to pull off a season given the issues everywhere getting timely test results, forcing delays and cancellations of workouts.

For now, Diekman still plans to play. He must be extra careful given he has the autoimmune condition ulcerative colitis.

"Once the regular season hits there's no way I'm opting out, but if they don't get the testing figured out then this whole thing will get shut down," Diekman said. "During the season there's no way we can go 72 hours or longer without knowing our result, there's just no way. There's no way that can possibly happen and this be safe for all 60, 70 days or whatever it is."

Etc.

• The Giants said they are "suspending workouts, pending the results of tests conducted this past weekend."

• Phillies outfielder Adam Haseley reported to camp after waiting several days for clearance because the lab used by Major League Baseball didn't return the results of his initial test for the coronavirus.

• The Cubs delayed the start of their workout a few hours because they were awaiting test results.

• Royals righthander Brad Keller and first baseman Ryan O'Hearn tested positive for the coronavirus.

• Red Sox starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez and prospect Bobby Dalbec both tested positive for the new coronavirus.
