Clear Channel Radio broadcast another blast of static Tuesday by eliminating 590 jobs nationwide, including some of its on-air personalities in the Twin Cities.

According to media-news forum RedandNater.com, the local casualties included KOOL 108's Lois Mae and its longtime afternoon-drive host Dan Donovan, K102's Fish, KTLK's Langdon Perry and KTLK's Danielle Hitchings. KFAN's Joe Anderson, best known as Dan Barriero's sidekick, also got his walking papers, but he said the news actually worked out well for him because he's busy with a new business.

"About a year ago I saw the writing on the wall [at Clear Channel] and bought this hardwood-floor franchise," he said. "It's been more successful than I had hoped it would, to the point where I wanted to commit more time to it. I get a severance, they cleared me out and hopefully someone got to keep their job."

National and local Clear Channel officials would not comment on specifics. It was the company's second round of cuts since January, bringing the total to 2,440 jobs, about 12 percent of its workforce.
