Classical spotlight: Accordo opens season with a double-header

DOUBLEHEADER BY ACCORDO

Monday-Tuesday: To open the sixth season of chamber ensemble Accordo on Monday, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra concertmaster Steven Copes, associate concert master Ruggero Allifranchini and principal viola Maiya Papach, plus Minnesota Orchestra principal cello Anthony Ross, will play Haydn's String Quartet in G minor. They are joined by a guest, SPCO principal bass Zachary Cohen, for Dvorak's String Quintet No. 2 and "Waltzes" by contemporary American composer Fred Lerdahl. The next evening, the program "Accordo at Amsterdam" offers audiences a chance to explore Mozart and Brahms string quintets with the musicians over drinks.
