The season-opening concert of the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra's engine408 new-music series begins with music by the late Luciano Berio (whose "Sequenza XIV" is a staple of the contemporary cello repertory) and moves on to a varied quartet of Americans: David Lang (of Bang on a Can), Elliott Carter (who has written some 15 pieces since his 100th birthday), Lou Harrison and, for a theatrical climax, Michael Daugherty, in whose "Dead Elvis" the icon is impersonated by the bassoon.
