Wednesday-Friday: There is no more quintessentially Finnish work than Sibelius' symphonic poem "Kullervo," based on a collection of ancient Finnish folk tales. It's hard to imagine a more authentic performance than the one the Minnesota Orchestra will deliver this week under Finnish music director Osmo Vänskä, who is joined by Finnish soloists -- soprano Päivi Nisula and baritone Hannu Niemelä -- and the Finnish YL Male Voice Choir. Sibelius' "Karelia" Suite rounds out the program. (7:30 p.m. Wed., 11 a.m. Thu., 8 p.m. Fri. $22-$84. Orchestra Hall, 11th St. and Nicollet Mall, Mpls. 612-371-5656 or www.minnesotaorchestra.org.)
