Sunday: The Minnesota Orchestra jumps the gun by a few days with its Independence Day program, but who can complain? Under the vigorous baton of associate conductor Courtney Lewis -- a Brit, but never mind! -- the band offers a patriotic potpourri of Ives, Sousa, Copland, Irving Berlin, John Williams and Tchaikovsky (the seemingly unavoidable "1812" Overture). Tenor Robb Asklof, Chopstix Percussion and the Minnesota Boychoir join the Sommerfest parade. (2 p.m. Sun., Ted Mann Concert Hall, 2128 S. 4th St., Mpls. $25-$50. 612-371-5656 or www.minnesotaorchestra.org.)
