Classical music spotlight: Mark Wigglesworth and the Minnesota Orchestra

Guest conductor leads all-Germanic affair.

Thursday-Saturday: At first blush, this week's offering by the Minnesota Orchestra feels like a throwback to the programs of 75 years ago. It's an all-Germanic affair, with a concerto (Brahms' "Double") sandwiched between an overture (to Wagner's "Tannhäuser") and a symphony (Haydn's No. 90). But old-school conductors would have ended with something weightier than Haydn, and might have hesitated to juxtapose Wagner and Brahms. Acting concertmaster Sarah Kwak and principal cello Anthony Ross are the soloists; Mark Wigglesworth, ever a welcome guestl, wields the baton. (11 a.m. Thu., 8 p.m. Fri.-Sat. $22-$84. Orchestra Hall, 11th St. and Nicollet Mall, Mpls. 612-371-5656, or www. minnesotaorchestra.org.)
