'LA NOCHEBUENA'

Today: As an alternative to more traditional holiday fare, Rose Ensemble presents "La Nochebuena: A Spanish Renaissance Christmas." Serene choral music from Spanish Renaissance masters is balanced with compositions that feature intoxicating Spanish rhythms. There are Latin motets, but also Spanish-language villancicos from the Palace Songbook of Ferdinand and Isabella. Another highlight is a series of lively dances strummed, bowed and plucked by an instrumental consort of viola da gamba, vihuela da mano (a guitar-like instrument), Baroque violin and harp. Catch the last performance tonight. (7 p.m. today. $15-$35. St. Philip the Deacon Lutheran Church, 17205 County Rd. 6, Plymouth. 651-225-4340.)
