CANTUS

Opening Thursday: With "When Twilight Falls," Cantus takes a romantic view of the time when daytime transforms to night, a time that is beginning and ending, through the nine-guy ensemble's trademark mix of sacred, classical and folk music. A highlight is the premiere of "A Source of Light" by Arab-American composer Mohammed Fairouz, setting texts by the unlikely bedfellows of Isaac Newton and 20th-century American poet Charles Bukowski. Also featured is the U.S. premiere of "A Song of Sky and Sea" by Cantus' own Paul Rudoi. (7:30 p.m. Thu., Cowles Center, 528 Hennepin Av. S., Mpls.; 7:30 p.m. Sat., Sundin Music Hall, 1531 Hewitt Av., St. Paul; 3 p.m. next Sun., St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, 630 E. Wayzata Blvd., Wayzata; 11 a.m. Nov. 2, Colonial Church of Edina, 6200 Colonial Way, Edina; 3 p.m. Nov. 4, Trinity Lutheran Church, 115 4th St. N., Stillwater. $25. 612-435-0055 or www.cantussings.org.)
