Rajon Rondo whose resurgence helped push the Chicago Bulls into the playoffs and then to a 2-0 lead over Boston, is out indefinitely because of a fractured right thumb.
Coach Fred Hoiberg said Rondo suffered the injury swiping at the ball during the third quarter of Game 2 Sunday and played through it. But when it continued to bother him, X-rays revealed the fracture, which won't require surgery.
Rondo will be re-evaluated in seven to 10 days. Jerian Grant started Game 3 Friday.
Rondo's loss is significant. He averaged 11.5 points, 10 assists and 8.5 rebounds in the first two playoff games, and the Bulls play at a faster pace when he's in.
"Everybody is going to have to be ready to pick up for what Rondo gives us," Hoiberg said.
Durant remains questionable
Warriors forward Kevin Durant participated in a light practice and was still listed as questionable to play in Game 3 Saturday at Portland because of a strained left calf.
"I'm not on my deathbed," Durant said.
"We want 100 percent health," Kerr said. "What we're talking about is something that if it could potentially get worse and knock him out for a few weeks, then it's not worth it."
