Seven who signed

Gophers basketball recruits hitting campus this summer:

Kevin Dorsey

5-11; 160 • Point guard

High School: Clinton Christian (Md.)

Scoop: A quick, skilled guard with knack for distributing in tight spots and keeping defenders off-balance. Expect Dorsey to challenge sophomore Nate Mason for the starting point guard spot.

Jarvis Johnson

6-1; 175 • Combo guard

High School: DeLaSalle

Scoop: What Johnson lacked in overall impact this season, he made up for in eye-popping athleticism. The local phenom will have to work his way into a deep backcourt rotation.

Dupree McBrayer

6-4; 175 • Combo guard

High School: Sunrise Christian Academy (Kan.) Scoop: A multifaceted scorer with a penchant for attacking the basket and a flair for finishing. McBrayer has as good a chance as any to be the opening night shooting guard.

Ahmad Gilbert

6-6; 180 • Small forward

High School: Constitution (Pa.)

Scoop: A pure perimeter shooter with good length and room to grow. Gilbert’s versatility will help him find playing time in more than one position.

Jordan Murphy

6-7; 220 • Combo forward

High School: William J. Brennan (Texas)

Scoop: Has college-ready size that allows him to rebound effectively and play through contact. Murphy will help with depth at power forward and challenge for the starting spot at small forward.

Reggie Lynch

6-10; 257 • Center

Previous college: Illinois State (Edina H.S.)

Scoop: The nation’s most efficient shot-blocker last season with a nose for offensive rebounding. The Edina native will redshirt per NCAA transfer rules.

Davonte Fitzgerald

6-7; 209 • Forward

Previous college: Texas A&M (Atlanta’s Tucker H.S.)

Scoop: The Atlanta native’s minutes and production dropped in his sophomore season with the Aggies after a knee injury ended his freshman year. Fitzgerald will redshirt per NCAA transfer rules.
