Nov. 22, 2003: In the first outdoor NHL regular season game, Montreal came to Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton and defeated the Oilers 4-3.

Feb. 13, 2006: On the field Lombardi made famous in Green Bay, the University of Wisconsin welcomed Ohio State to Lambeau Field and beat the Buckeyes 4-2.

Jan. 1, 2008: In what would become an annual New Year's Day tradition, Pittsburgh skated by Buffalo 2-1 in a shootout at Ralph Wilson Stadium. More than 71,000 fans attended.

Jan. 8, 2010: Boston University beat Boston College 2-1 at Fenway Park shortly after the women's team from New Hampshire topped Northeastern 5-3 on the same ice.

Dec. 11, 2010: In front of a whopping 113,411 at the appropriately named "Big House," Michigan dazzles the home crowd with a 5-0 victory over Michigan State.

Feb. 9, 2013: In the first USHL outdoor game, the Omaha Lancers beat the Lincoln Stars 4-2 at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha.

Jan 25-Feb. 1, 2014: The NHL's planned "Stadium Series" featuring games in New York, Chicago and, yes, Los Angeles.
