Gophers and Wolverines

• Have combined for nearly 3,300 wins, 14 national titles and 44 Frozen Four appearances, 20 of which have come since 1990.

• Rank No. 1 and No. 2 all-time in NCAA Division I victories (the Gophers are first).

• First meeting took place on Jan. 23, 1923.

• Gophers lead the all-time series 129-117-5. Nobody has beaten Michigan more than the Gophers.

• Both teams were members of the WCHA from 1951 to 1981, before Michigan left for the CCHA.

• Met in back-to-back Frozen Fours in 2002 and 2003. The Gophers went on to win the national title both times.

• The Gophers have had four Hobey Baker winners, the Wolverines two.
