MICHIGAN AT A GLANCE

Record: 4-0

Ranking: No. 19

Coach: Brady Hoke, 23-7 in three seasons at Michigan, including 12-4 in the Big Ten. The Wolverines are 17-0 at home under Hoke.

Key players: Quarterback Devin Gardner has recorded at least one rushing touchdown in eight consecutive games, but he has eight interceptions and two fumbles this season. … Wide receiver Jeremy Gallon caught eight passes for 184 yards and three touchdowns against Notre Dame. … Left tackle Taylor Lewan would have been a first-round NFL pick this year had he not returned for his senior season.

Season to date: Michigan played as well as any team in the Big Ten for the season's first two weeks, beating Central Michigan 59-9 and Notre Dame 41-30. But the Wolverines needed a last-minute goal-line stand to defeat Akron 28-24 and came back from 14 points behind to win 24-21 at Connecticut. Last week, the Wolverines had a bye.

Key stat: Michigan ranks second in the Big Ten in rushing defense, at 79 yards per game, ahead of Iowa (79.2).
