37th GRANDMA'S MARATHON

When, where: Saturday, Two Harbors to Duluth.

Races: Marathon, 7:45 a.m.; USA half-marathon championships, 6:15 (men) and 6:25 (women); Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon (citizen's race), 6:45.

Entrants: Marathon 7,338. Half-marathon 7,835.

Prize money: Marathon has a $100,000 purse (winners earn $10,000). USA half-marathon championship has an $82,000 purse (winners earn $12,000).

Men's marathon favorites: Bazu Worku, Ethiopia (personal best 2:05:25); Wegayehu Tefera, Ethiopia (2:08:25); Weldon Kirui, Kenya (2:09:06); Ernest Kebenei, Kenya (2:10:55). Defending champion Berhanu Girma of Ethiopia is not entered.

Women's marathon favorites: Defending champion Everlyne Lagat, Kenya (2:31:32); 2011 champion Yihunlish Delelecha, Ethiopia (2:30:39).

USA half-marathon favorites: 2012 U.S. Olympic marathoners Meb Keflezighi and Abdi Abdirahman, the defending champ, head the men's field, and Mo Trafeh is a seven-time national champ. Desiree Davila, also a 2012 U.S. Olympic marathoner, is the women's favorite.
