YOU'LL BE HEARING FROM THEM

The Gophers have commitments from more than a dozen recruits with six weeks to go before signing day. Among the projected standouts in their Class of 2013:

BERKLEY EDWARDS RB, Chelsea, Mich.

The 5-9, 190-pound tailback, whose brother Braylon plays for the New York Jets, has breakaway speed and NFL potential, according to rivals.com analysts.

ALEX MAYES OT, Van Alstyne, Texas

So far the only offensive lineman joining the Gophers, but at 6-6 and 280 pounds, he already has Big Ten size. He also has a younger brother, Connor, whom the Gophers are pursuing.

CHRIS STEVELER QB, Woodstock, Ill.

He's medium-sized at 6-2 and 190 pounds, runs as well as he passes, and has excelled at a small school in Illinois. The last time Jerry Kill recruited a quarterback with that résumé, he snagged Jordan Lynch, who led Northern Illinois to the Orange Bowl.

The Gophers played with more urgency, but it wasn’t enough to keep them from another conference sweep, and they lost LJ Mooney to injury in the process.
