Last season in review

The Gophers went 8-5 for the second consecutive year, but their 5-3 Big Ten record was their best since 2003. They drew their first New Year's Day bowl invitation since 1962 but lost to Missouri 33-17 in the Citrus Bowl.

Offensive departures

Tight end Maxx Williams declared early for the NFL draft, and wide receiver Donovahn Jones was dismissed from the team. Departing seniors included running back David Cobb, starting offensive linemen Tommy Olson and Zac Epping and tight end Drew Goodger.

Defensive departures

Departing seniors included two starting linemen: Cameron Botticelli and Michael Amaefula, middle linebacker Damien Wilson and defensive backs Cedric Thompson and Derrick Wells.
