The North Star Bicycle Festival begins Wednesday morning in St. Paul and runs through Sunday, with stages at different sites each day. Fan events surround each stage. Races are professional men and amateur men and women. There is no professional women’s race this year because of lack of numbers.

Team to beat: Team Optum has three past champions in Ryan Anderson (2014), Tom Zirbel (2012) and Jesse Anthony (2011).

Big name: Three-time Tour de France champion Greg LeMond will lead the CEO Ride for Kids to benefit Special Olympics before Friday night’s stage in Minneapolis.

Women’s pro: Carmen Small, the 2014 and 2012 women’s winner, will compete in the men’s pro division with Team Elbowz.

Wednesday: St Paul Riverfront Time Trial, 8:30 a.m. Downtown St. Paul Criterium 6:15 p.m. (elite amateurs), 7:30 p.m. (pros).

Thursday: Cannon Falls Road Race, 4:45 p.m.

Friday: Minneapolis Uptown Criterium, 6:15 (elite amateurs), 7:45 p.m. (pros)

Saturday: Menomonie Road Race, 1:30 p.m.

Sunday: Stillwater Criterium, 11:45 (elite amateurs), 1:30 (pros)
