There were a slew of celebrities among the 600 guests invited by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to their wedding; politicians were excluded.

Oprah Winfrey, Serena Williams, Idris Elba and Elton John topped the list. Tennis star Williams, accompanied by her husband, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, chose a blush, long-sleeve silk drape dress by Atelier Versace to go with her fascinator in pale pink, a hue also favored by Winfrey and others.

Indian actress Priyanka Chopra, a friend of the bride's, entered into the chapel in a light heather gray Vivienne Westwood pencil skirt and matching jacket with an asymmetric collar. Elton John, looking dapper in tails, did double-duty as a wedding guest and a performer at the luncheon hosted by Queen Elizabeth. He sported pink eyeglasses as he arrived with husband David Furnish. Elton was a close friend of the groom's late mother, Princess Diana, and played his hit "Candle in the Wind" at her 1997 funeral.

George and Amal Clooney, James Corden and David and Victoria Beckham also were there — Amal Clooney in a bright yellow Stella McCartney dress and matching hat. British singer James Blunt was in traditional tails, while Argentine polo player Nacho Figueras went for a double-breasted blue suit. Joss Stone was also on hand, prompting BBC commenters to note that the singer, often barefoot on stage, wore shoes.

And, did you see the 'SNL' celebrities?

For its 43rd season finale, "Saturday Night Live" brought together two powerful entertainers: host Tina Fey and musical guest Nicki Minaj. Among the stars who made cameos were Benedict Cumberbatch, Robert De Niro, Donald Glover, John Goodman, Anne Hathaway, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Jerry Seinfeld. When "SNL" alums return as hosts, they tend to reprise their most beloved characters from the show. For Fey, that character is unquestionably her rendition of 2008 vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. The former Alaska governor, aka Fey, didn't show up until the final half-hour in a sketch set in the Oval Office. "It's me, the ghost of Sarah Palin," Fey said as if speaking to Palin's fans, before clarifying that she was just kidding. "I'm still alive," she said. "But you had to think about it, didn't ya?" Clad in a leather motorcycle jacket, Fey explained, "One minute you're on top, and then you're gone in the blink of a Scaramucci."

award: "Maus" cartoonist Art Spiegelman is this year's winner of the Edward MacDowell Medal for lifetime achievement. The honor was announced Sunday by the MacDowell artist colony in New Hampshire. MacDowell Chairman Michael Chabon said that Spiegelman — the first medal recipient honored for graphic novels — was a pioneer in making comics respected as an art form.

The "winners" have all been Turkeys, no matter the honor's name.
