Olympic champion gymnast Shawn Johnson threw out a ceremonial first ball at Wrigley Field — and wound up with quite a catch.
Johnson was walking off the field before the Chicago Cubs hosted Philadelphia on Friday when she was surprised by longtime boyfriend Andrew East, a rookie long snapper for the Kansas City Chiefs.
East dropped to one knee near home plate and presented the 2008 gold medalist with a diamond engagement ring. A stunned Johnson put her hands over her mouth, bobbed her head up and down, then jumped into his arms.
Later, she put her feelings onto her Twitter feed.
"Today the love of my life asked me to be his forever. AND I SAID YES!" she posted.
An hour later, East shared a picture of himself on one knee captioned, "I'm a lucky guy to put a ring on this girls finger! I love you @shawnjohnson."
The 23-year-old Johnson — a native of Des Moines — won the balance beam title at the Beijing Olympics. The next year, she won the title on ABC-TV's "Dancing with the Stars."
Paper warns of royal security breach
A British newspaper said it has uncovered a major royal security breach by using an inexpensive app to track Prince William's air rescue ambulance while it is in the air. The Mail on Sunday said the 2.99 pound ($4.65) app allowed it to keep close track of William as he flew in his capacity as a private pilot with East Anglian Air Ambulance in eastern England. It said the app allowed its journalists to pinpoint where William was planning to land the air ambulance helicopter. It published photos appearing to show William's helicopter landing and of the prince talking to colleagues on the ground.
just joking: Just because Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert are getting divorced doesn't mean they can't have some fun on social media. The country stars, who announced the end of their marriage last week, shared friendly banter on Twitter Friday, even joking about pregnancy rumors. After initially touting fellow singer Ashley Monroe, the former couple got playful with their posts. Lambert shared a photo of Shelton with a stroller and joked he was pregnant. He responded by saying he was "busted" and not just fat. The couple released a statement last saying they are ending their four-year marriage.
stop in Sweden: Swedish police say they briefly held U.S. rapper Snoop Dogg on suspicion of drug use after he performed a concert near Stockholm. National police spokesman Fredrik Wallen says a police patrol in the city of Uppsala, north of the capital, stopped a car in which Snoop Dog was a passenger on Saturday after the concert. Police questioned him at a local police station, tested him for suspected drug use, and released him. Snoop, 43, took immediately to social media to protest his arrest, saying he would never return. Test results would not be available for some time, police said.
