The first "Star Wars" installment in a decade has been met with jubilation, not least because Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher reprised their classic roles as Han Solo, Luke Skywalker and Princess — make that General — Leia. Yet some longtime fans were stuck on a detail that shouldn't have come as a surprise to anyone: The actors have aged.

Or, to zone in on the preoccupation, Fisher has aged. When the daughter of singer Eddie Fisher and actress Debbie Reynolds appeared on the big screen in "Return of the Jedi" wearing nothing more than a gold bikini, she instantly became the star of many a teenager's fantasies. But Fisher is now 59 years old.

Discussion of Fisher's weight has raged since "The Force Awakens" premiered earlier this month. The actress, known for her wry repartee and Instagram-famous dog, shot back at her critics this week: "Please stop debating about whetherOR not (I've) aged well.unfortunately it hurts all3 of my feelings. My BODY hasnt aged as well as I have."

She also retweeted comments from a supporter who said, "Men don't age better than women, they're just allowed to age."

They are headlining the New Year's Eve celebrations in downtown Nashville, where they've made their home for 15 years. The festivities will include a giant musical note dropping at the stroke of midnight, fireworks and performances by Grammy-nominated country singer Chris Stapleton, Kelsea Ballerini, Sugar & The Hi-Lows, The Whigs, Wild Cub and LANco. A new album is in the works, too.

arrested: Authorities said former "Glee" star Mark Salling, 33, was arrested in Los Angeles for investigation of possessing child pornography. Police Officer Tony Im said the actor had been investigated by the LAPD's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Representatives for Salling did not respond to requests for comment. Salling is best known for playing bad-boy Noah "Puck" Puckerman on TV's musical dramedy "Glee," which aired on Fox from 2009 until earlier this year. He shared a Screen Actors Guild award with the cast in 2010, when they won for outstanding TV comedy ensemble.
