Like many of his baby boomer peers with grown children and debts to settle, one-time heartthrob David Cassidy is looking to downsize.

But once he hands over the keys, the singer and former star of “The Partridge Family” television series says he’s not looking back — not at the house he has lived in for 13 years or the past few years that have been overshadowed by personal struggles, including entering alcohol rehabilitation.

Cassidy, 65 and the father of two, is auctioning the waterfront home and all its furnishings Sept. 9 as part of bankruptcy and divorce proceedings. “My soon-to-be ex-wife and I need to resolve our financial problems,” Cassidy said.

Fisher Auction Co., which also handled the 2013 auction of the Miami Beach mansion where fashion designer Gianni Versace lived and died, is requiring potential bidders to deposit $200,000 into escrow and prove they have at least $3 million available for the sale. Cassidy bought the house in a ritzy Fort Lauderdale neighborhood in 2001 for $1.1 million, and he estimates he spent about $1 million more in renovations that expanded the house to roughly 7,000 square feet.

Officials at a Maine playhouse say Valerie Harper has been hospitalized after falling ill before a performance. Officials at the Ogunquit Playhouse say the 75-year-old actress, who has battled cancer, was taken to a hospital Wednesday before the evening performance of “Nice Work If You Can Get It.” A statement Thursday says she’s “resting comfortably and will remain in the hospital for observation for the time being.”

defending ruling: An Oklahoma judge is defending his actions in allowing country music stars Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert to keep details of their divorce private. Pottawatomie County Associate District Judge John Gardner, who is retiring this week, said allowing the case to be public would have compromised the personal and financial privacy of both parties.

Died: Authorities say actor Sean Malone, 54, who had roles in “Gone Baby Gone” and “The Fighter,” has died more than a week after he was pulled from the water at a Boston beach.
