Casting call

"Renovation Raiders," the HGTV show in which homeowners surprise their spouse or loved one with a fast-paced makeover project, is casting for its new season.

Magnetic Productions, a Minneapolis-based production company, is seeking local homeowners with ugly rooms — from kitchens to bedrooms to basements — that need an update. Homeowners selected will get a new room, designed by professionals, at no cost.

The hitch is that you can't tell your spouse or loved one about the makeover; it must be a surprise. Show host Amy Matthews and a crew of contractors will redo the room while the homeowners are out for a night on the town.

To apply, send an e-mail to surpriseremodelcasting@gmail.com. Include your name and the address of the home you'd like renovated, why you want to surprise your loved one, a brief description of what you like/dislike about the space, a daytime phone number (one that your spouse or loved one won't answer) and several photos or video of you and the room you'd like to have remodeled.

Wine and design

Furniture designer and artist Bob Timberlake will be at Gabberts on Tuesday for the finale of the Galleria Wine & Design Series. From 6-8 p.m. Timberlake will present a fireside chat with insights into his designs and career. Small bites will be provided by the Good Earth, with wine sampling by Chateau Ste. Michelle.

Tickets, $15 in advance, $20 at the door, are available at Galleria Guest Services. All proceeds will benefit Bridging. Gabberts is at 3501 Galleria in Edina.
