Cassius Winston leads Spartans' second-half rally in win over Iowa

Cassius Winston scored 19 of his 20 points in the second half and Rocket Watts added 21 points, helping No. 24 Michigan State rally to beat No. 18 Iowa 78-70 Tuesday night in East Lansing, Mich.

The Spartan (19, 9, 11-6 Big Ten), who trailed 33-27 at the half, moved into sole possession of second place in the conference, 1½ games behind No. 9 Maryland. The Hawkeyes (19-9, 10-7) started the night tied for second and ended it slipping to sixth. Iowa's Luka Garza scored 20 points.

Wake Forest 113, Duke 101 (2OT): Brandon Childress, who missed his first 10 shots, hit a tying three-pointer with 15.5 seconds left in regulation to help the Demon Deacons (12-15, 5-12 Atlantic Coast Conference) stun the visiting Blue Devils (23-5, 13-4). And, in the second extra period, he made another three on the first possession to put Wake Forest ahead to stay. Freshman Wendell Moore Jr. had 25 points and Tre Jones 24 for Duke.

MIAC quarterfinals

St. Olaf 76, Augsburg 68: Nate Albers had 20 points and nine rebounds as the visiting Oles (13-13) upset the third-seeded Auggies (18-8).

St. Mary's 72, Bethel 59: Eli Cave scored 27 points and the Cardinals made nine three-pointers — shooting 47.4% from behind the arc — to stun the fourth-seeded Royals on their court. St. Mary's was competing in the conference tournament for the first time since the inaugural four-team playoff in 1985.

Big Ten women

No. 14 Northwestern 69, Ohio State 55: Abi Scheid, a senior from Elk River, scored 19 points with five three-pointers as the Wildcats (25-3, 15-2 Big Ten) beat the Buckeyes to remain in first place. Dorka Juhasz led Ohio State (17-11, 10-7) with 15 points.
