The driver of a car was killed after he crossed the center line of a two-lane highway in Stearns County and crashed head-on into an SUV, authorities said.
Killed was Elmer L. Nelson, 69, of Paynesville, Minn., said the State Patrol. The SUV driver, Wayne A. Hansen, also of Paynesville, was unhurt, the patrol said.
Nelson was driving east on Hwy. 55 in Paynesville about 3:45 p.m. Monday, when his vehicle crossed into the oncoming lane and hit the SUV, the patrol said.
Both drivers had on their seat belts, and alcohol use was not a factor.
