Toby Keith's first country hit was "Should've Been a Cowboy" in 1993. The Oklahoman, who performed Monday at the Minnesota State Fair and stars in the Southern comedy movie "Beer for My Horses," still has a taste for the old West, as evidenced by his favorite DVD of the moment, "Deadwood," the HBO TV series.

"I sat here on break, and every night I'd watch three episodes. I watched the entire full run, every season front to back. I thought it was fantastic. The dialogue was so over the top and so uncensored and so raw. It was like nothing I'd ever seen before. The last time I'd felt that way was when I watched 'Lonesome Dove.' I like to see people branch out and put their nuts on the table, you know what I mean."
